VST partners with Co-op to unlock planogram data for suppliers
For years, planogram data has existed quietly in the background of grocery retail - essential, operational, but rarely accessible to the people who need it most.
That’s starting to change.
We’ve partnered with Co-op to give the retailer’s branded suppliers direct access to verified, store-level planogram data through VST’s Planogram Publisher platform. Resulting in clearer visibility at shelf, faster decision-making, and better collaboration between Co-op and its supplier base.
What’s launching
The partnership will begin with a four-week trial involving five suppliers, before rolling out more broadly across the Co-op supplier estate.
Through Planogram Publisher, suppliers will be able to:
- See exactly what’s listed, where it’s placed, and how it’s executed across Co-op’s store estate
- Replace fragmented, manual processes with one live source of planogram truth
- Align category decisions, activations and field execution with real store layouts
For Co-op, opening up planogram data supports its wider ambition to deliver a best-in-class buying experience for suppliers - removing friction, improving transparency, and enabling smarter, faster commercial conversations.
Why this matters now
Planogram data is one of retail’s most under-utilised assets. It sits at the intersection of category strategy, store operations, retail media and execution - yet it’s historically been locked away or slow to access.
By making planogram data available to strategic supplier partners, Co-op is enabling:
- Better-informed investment decisions
- Faster activation of in-store initiatives
- More effective collaboration across commercial, category and insights teams
- Stronger category outcomes at shelf
As retailers face increasing pressure to move faster, reduce inefficiencies and unlock new revenue streams, shelf data is becoming foundational infrastructure — not a back-office afterthought.
A step forward for supplier–retailer collaboration
“For years, planogram data has been an underused asset in retail,” said Nick Theodore, CEO & Founder, VST. “We’re excited to announce our launch of Planogram Publisher in partnership with Co-op. It’s a big step forward in making Co-op’s planogram data available to their most strategic CPG partners to unlock category growth across their stores.”
Tom Bradley, Commercial Director at Co-op, added:
“As the leading UK convenience retailer, our aim is to run the best small shops providing quality products and great value for our members and customers, and to do that we need cutting edge processes and data access behind the shelf edge. This new partnership will give brands direct sight of planogram data which will remove friction, and create transparency, enabling smarter conversations and more agile execution.”
What Planogram Publisher enables
Planogram Publisher brings live planogram data into one shared workspace — making it usable, searchable and actionable for both retailers and brands.
It gives commercial, category, insights and field teams:
- A clear view of on-shelf reality across stores
- Faster alignment between strategy and execution
- A foundation for more effective retail media, range reviews and in-store optimisation
This partnership reflects a wider shift in the industry - retailers are beginning to operationalise and monetise shelf data, and brands are demanding tools that help them act with confidence.
